This Frankoma tea pot is in the shape of a wagon wheel. The tea pot detailed with spokes and a plate, it has a protruding spout and C shaped handle with button type accents. The tea pot is as some refer to it as "prairie green" in color, the bottom is a red brick color and it is signed Frankoma 947.
Frankoma pottery of Sapulpa, Oklahoma produced some of the most interesting American pottery ever designed, the company produced dinnerware lines, serving pieces, commemorative pieces and vases. John Frank was a professor of ceramics at the University of Oklahoma from 1927 to 1936, the name Frankoma was derived from "Frank" plus the last three letters of Oklahoma. John Frank used light hued local Ada clay in its early products, later the light clay was replaced by a Sapulpa Oklahoma based brick-red clay in 1953.
