This antique Burg Bräu Prima beer stein is a rare piece of Chicago brewing history 🍺. Produced by the Independent Brewing Association of Chicago, Illinois (active 1907–1920s), this heavy stoneware advertising mug showcases a striking burgundy graphic of a classical woman holding a garland, along with bold typography reading:
“Burg Bräu Prima – Independent Brewing Ass’n – Chicago, Ill., U.S.A.”
🍻 Why It’s Special
The Independent Brewing Association was one of the largest brewery conglomerates in Chicago before Prohibition, formed by multiple smaller breweries to compete with national brands. Their branded steins, mugs, and advertising pieces are rare survivors, highly sought after by collectors of brewery memorabilia and pre-Prohibition artifacts.
